It all began when I started writing songs for my newborn daughter, Sam. Little ditties to make her smile. A beautiful career filled with children and music was born.
After leaving NYC to raise my 3 kids in the suburbs, I opened The Children’s Center of Goldens Bridge-the birthplace of ArtSmart-offering art & music lessons to preschoolers. When the center had to close in 2008, I threw the guitar in the trunk, hit the road and continued teaching throughout communities in NYC and Westchester until the pandemic hit in March 2020. I am blessed to be married to drummer and producer Kevin Hupp (Rick Derringer, Rufus Wainwright, Iggy Pop), and with the help of many talented friends, I have recorded 3 children’s records along the way.
I love a good alter ego, don’t you? Trisha Blue & the Rubber City Souls is a project Kevin & I created to record cover songs in a different way. Kev has a way of twisting and laying down killer grooves! All the tracks were recorded live (except for the vocals). Watching Alex Salzman, Don Harris and Kip Sophos record was a master class I’ll never forget. These cats are the best in the business, and I’m blessed to call them friends.
Where’s The 1?, was co-written with Bette Sussman (Whitney Houston, Bette Midler) as the soundtrack to a kids TV show that the we wrote during lockdown. The 6 song EP features Bette, Kevin, Will Lee, Felicia Collins, Gary Schreiner, Julio Fernandez, Joel Rosenblatt, Don Harris, Bill Harris, John Putnam, Jeff Carney, Steve Conte, Kevin Jenkins and the Feeling Groovy Kiddie Choir. How lucky am I?!
